My work explores Black life through intimacy, memory, and spiritual presence, using portraiture as a space for connection and reflection. I am drawn to the exchange of gazes between myself and those who sit with me, where vulnerability, trust, and quiet tension unfold. These encounters become sites of romance and emotional depth, where tenderness and weight can exist within the same frame.
Grounded in the formal language of portraiture, I honor its history while allowing myself to move beyond its boundaries. I am interested in what happens when structure gives way to intuition and when rules are broken in pursuit of something more honest.
My images often hold fragments of my own lived experience, truths that can feel both powerful and haunting. Through this process, I aim to create photographs that are not only seen, but felt, where presence, memory, and spirit linger long after the image is encountered.
